Is Shattered Ring a good origin in Stellaris? ›

Shattered Ring gives you Scrap Miners instead of Industrial Districts, which produce less Alloys so your early Alloy production will be painful if you go that Origin. That is less of an issue with other Machine Empire but as DE you need the early Alloys.

"The Shattered Ring World can be repaired, unlocking special Ring World Segment Districts." That's the only part which talks about repairs. It seems pretty clear it's only talking about the main segment, which can be repaired in order to make it a "Ring World Segment" instead of a "Shattered Ring World Segment".

Grab a construction ship and click on the build megasturcture option, then click on a star that you want to build the ringworld around, not every star can support one, and it removes all the planets in the system (i think). Ah, the ringworld is seprate form those three, you can unlock it with a diffrent ascension perk.

As far as I know Orbital Rings are supposed to fall under the same rules as habitats in that you can build either around a planet. Might be they got flagged as Megastructure somehow. As long as the planet is colonised, or currently being colonised, you should be able to build a ring around it.
